Asia - Group 1
Australia: Australia is a four-time Oceania Football Confederation champion and has been represented at two World Cup finals tournaments, in 1974 and 2006. According to the FIFA Rankings, the Australian national football team is currently ranked 29th by FIFA, and 37th by the Elo Ratings, making it the highest ranked team in Asia.Australia's achievement in securing qualification for a second consecutive FIFA World Cup has been met with praise and emotion by fans Down Under. Asia - Group 1
Japan: Japan coach Takeshi Okada has set a target of a place in the last four at South Africa 2010 after the Blue Samurai became the first team to qualify. Japan clinched a berth in next year’s FIFA World Cup with a 1-0 win over Uzbekistan, Shinji Okazaki’s did early goal on Saturday night. Japan is one of the most successful national teams in Asia, being a three-time winner of the Asian Cup and having qualified for the last three consecutive World Cup finals.

Asia - Group 2
Korea Republic: Korea Republic is on top of Group B with eight points from four matches. Their first match was another showdown with Korea DPR and for the third time in a row, ended in a draw. Hong Yong-Jo converted a penalty to put the North Koreans ahead in the 63rd minute, but Ki Sung-Yeung equalised five minutes later at a neutral venue in Shanghai. In their second match Korea Republic crushed the UAE 4-1 at home. The South Koreans took the lead in the 19th minute when Daegu FC's Lee took a pass from Lee Chung-Yong and deflected shot off a defender that flew over the shoulder of goalkeeper Majed Naser.

Europe - Group 9
Netherlands: Netherlands fans were out in force in the streets of Reykjavik and Amsterdam as they celebrated their side's early qualification for South Africa 2010. It has also won Euro 88 and reached two consecutive World Cup finals in 1974 and 1978 but lost both finals to their respective host nations, West Germany and Argentina. At the peak of its success in the 1970s, the team was famous for its mastery of Total Football and was nicknamed "Clockwork Orange" for its precision passing. In many countries the team is colloquially referred to as "Holland". It is currently ranked 2nd in the FIFA World Rankings and 2nd in the World Football Elo Ratings.
